Just think: while the National Association of Realtors (NAR) was founded in 1908, its membership became male. The first girl joined NAR in 1910, but women struggled to serve on real estate forums for the next half of the century. Today, most realtors—sixty-three percent—are women, in step with the NAR2017 Member Profile.
For ladies, real estate is usually a 2D profession,” says Cindy Scholz, a broker with Compass Real Estate in Manhattan. “Most entered real estate as it afforded them flexibility, the ability to manage their careers, and, but not least, the capacity to double their profits inside the first 12 months. Women may additionally dominate the enterprise numerically. As recently as 2017, only 12 percent of respondents to a NAR survey have been in the president, CEO, government director, or comparable roles. Of the lady CEOs, the simplest seven percent led groups with over 100 personnel.

Cindy Scholz has based a “Women of Compass” initiative that, in her phrases, “Highlights ladies, each internally and externally. We have speakers, all of whom are ladies. But the attendance at the one’s meetings is half guys, 1/2 girls. The payoff may be substantial for ladies who can negotiate these uneven waters. Judy Citron of Palo Alto, California, entered the real property in 2009 when the marketplace was down. In 2018, she represented over 50 transactions with over $235 million in sales and ranked the #20 agent nationally using the Wall Street Journal’s RealTrends 2018.
This is the wave of destiny, says Scholz.
